Windows 10 includes a new feature known as Microsoft Wi-Fi. The name is novel, to say the least. For several years, the function has gone by the name Skype Wi-Fi. It's a service that allows you to connect to for-free Wi-Fi hotspots around the world without having to create an account with each one.

Microsoft Wifi is Windows 10's way of helping you identify the local Wireless network. When you tap & hold on the Microsoft Wi-Fi icon, it will scan for all available wireless networks in your area and list them out with signal strength bars (green, orange or red). Tapping on any other network outside your house will prompt if you want to connect to that particular network. If you wish to join any network, simply click the "connect" button to start connecting wirelessly. This is very useful when you are traveling abroad and cannot remember what hotel's Wi-Fi hotspot you have used before. Using this feature from your Windows devices, you'll be able to easily discover new wireless networks as soon as they become available.

To connect to the wireless network, you'll need to have a Microsoft account. This is because the feature uses your Microsoft account. If you don't have one yet, simply click on the "Create an account" link located at bottom of the page and follow the onscreen instructions. Once you have signed in with your Microsoft Account, it will start scanning for available networks near your area.

There are numerous for-profit hotspot systems worldwide. The issue with these systems is that if you're not in locations with the same one, using any of them doesn't make economic sense. This is where Microsoft Wi-Fi comes in handy. Microsoft Wi-Fi is a free service that allows you to use over 20,000,000 paid hotspots around the world. You simply have to be logged in with your Microsoft Account and your system will take care of the rest!

Please note that there are several types of networks available within the list. Some require a password while others don't. To connect to any network, it has to support an internet connection AND also must be turned ON from that particular provider's end (In other words, they have to be open). If you know any network that does not support the internet or is not turned ON from the provider's end, please let us know by leaving a comment below.

How does it work?

Microsoft's objective is for this to be as seamless as possible. You had to launch the Skype Wi-Fi app and connect to participating providers through it when using Skype Wi-Fi. That isn't a significant barrier, but it is inconvenient. Connecting in Microsoft Wi-Fi works similarly to how you would on any other network. Simply select "Purchase Wi-Fi from Windows Store" from the system tray menu after selecting "Wi-Fi." Microsoft takes care of the rest.

This connection option will only appear if a partner hotspot is accessible for use. No personal information about you is shared with any partner, including Microsoft.

How to get Microsoft Wi-Fi?

Currently, this feature is included in Windows 10 operating system only. If you're running an older version of Windows (7 or 8), there isn't a way that we know of yet to use the service. We'll update the post when that changes!

You can download and install the latest version of Windows 10 from the Microsoft website. You will need to have a valid product key for activation before using Microsoft Wifi on Windows 10. Since it's completely free, you don't have to pay anything for activation!

What is the fee structure?

Currently, there are no fees associated with using Microsoft Wi-Fi. It will remain free for everyone who wishes to connect! If you have any issues related to this service, let us know by leaving a comment below. We'll try our best to help you solve the problem.

Microsoft Wi-Fi is still at a preview stage and we may see some changes happening in near future, like offering additional details about the hotspot like their location (in case available). Stay tuned to our Facebook page for the latest updates!

To know more, please visit Microsoft's official website. Hope this article helped you connect faster to pay for the provider's network. We'll be updating this post whenever any new information becomes available. Till then, keep connected!

Conclusion

Microsoft Wi-Fi is currently in the preview stage and will remain free for everyone to use. It uses the same connection technology that Skype Wi-Fi was using when it was in service, which is a VPN tunnel secure enough to prevent your ISP from throttling down your connection speeds while using paid networks. We can assume Microsoft would be using even better security measures in this one considering they are offering this for free!

This way every user will receive an equally fast speed at each location throughout the world, thanks to Microsoft's huge network of Internet Express partners around the globe. No matter wherever you go, public hotspots should always be easily accessible via Windows 10 when the Microsoft Wi-Fi feature is enabled on your device!

We're super excited to see this feature finally come to Windows 10 and would like to thank Microsoft for making it possible! We know that lots of people will be using this service especially when you're at an airport or hotel & there's no internet access available. We'll keep updating the post whenever new information is available, so don't forget to bookmark us (press Ctrl + D ) and check back regularly! Cheers!
