Nvidia Surround is an industry-leading multi-monitor technology that allows you to enable three 1920x1080 monitors for each video card. Nvidia hardware will split the information over three displays while using only one monitor. How To Get Nvidia Surround?


You MUST have an Nvidia Graphics card with the latest graphics drivers and an Operating System capable of supporting multiple monitors (Windows 7 or Windows 8). If you meet these requirements, go ahead and install the appropriate driver for your video card, then launch "Nvidia Control Panel". One of two things will happen; either your screen(s) will display black, or they may flash (and possibly set the resolution correctly). If you get lucky and it auto-adjusts to the proper resolution, go ahead and play your game or use your desktop as normal.


To set the proper resolution for each monitor, you will need to make a "custom" resolution via the Nvidia Control Panel. This is done by first going into the 2D Settings menu (the first option), then selecting a resolution with a vertical refresh rate of 60 Hz. Next, click on "Add", which selects custom from the connection type dropdown, then change the appropriate H and V frequency values to 60 Hz. When you're all done, hit apply at the bottom of this window and it should save the settings correctly!

Nvidia's Surround Is Similar To AMD's Eyefinity


Yes, it is, although the term "similar" is a stretch in terms of what AMD has given us recently with its Eyefinity technology. Both solutions use multiple graphics cards (either SLI or CrossFire) and both allow for pretty much identical resolution support. The main difference between Nvidia Corp.'s Surround and AMD Inc.'s Eyefinity lies in what each company calls their technology, how they are implemented/supported on the respective hardware, and the experience you get while playing games.


It was possible to combine two monitors through one video card before, in the days of Windows XP. To take a specific example, when using cards from NVidia, you had to put the appropriate video drivers that support the function nView and have two monitors, with no reference to the presence of screens with similar technical parameters. 


The settings are quite simple and don't require much attention to what's going on. We will have four options for the operation mode of the monitors.


Alternatives.


Jump to the side of "red", the implementation of the term AMD Eyefinity looks more modest, not requiring two video cards.
